Kyusho
Kyusho is the art of controlling an opponent using pressure
points. There are approximately 240 pressure points in the
human body. The proper application of force against these points
can be an extremely effective tool for self-defense.
Kyusho is taught as a practical adjunct to each of the other arts taught at THE DOJO. The key to
effective Kyusho technique is not only knowing where the points are,
but how the power must be applied. As with all other arts taught
in our school, Kyusho is most effective when Ki (internal energy) is
applied.
Sensei Slider views Kyusho techniques as auxillary or softening applications, not necessarily finishing
technique, though some applications may end a fight.
Kyusho can be a very valuable addition to any martial art.
